ABOUT MY BLOG

FatCat Chit-Chat...

Perhaps you caught the About section, perhaps you didn’t. Anyway, my name is Lurian and I absolutely love cats. I think they are utterly hilarious. Each with their own distinct personality, from criminal genius to ditsy grey, each with their individual traits and amusing hang-ups.

I have had cats since I was young. My wife and I have had Maine Coons for the past 16 years, and I must say that not a single moment has been a dull one. Frank, my wife’s first tabby Maine Coon, was my introduction to the breed. Certainly a new experience. The live fast die young type. Imagine the swagger of Banderas’ Puss in Boots and chaotic nature of 007’s nemesis Blofeld in one. Bullied Honey, the dog, me when I first moved in…

Honey was Frank’s companion, a timid and simple, yet loving blue. She adored Frank despite the regular pastings he doled out. She lived with breast cancer and diabetes through her senior years and we had to go through a lot with her. This is also partly where the inspiration to write a blog has come from as I wouldn’t want someone to be in the same situation we found ourselves in with the initial, somewhat shocking, options we were presented with.

Then there was Charlie. Came to us as Rameses, but Rameses he was certainly not. Courage deficient and skittish in every sense. Now a senior mog, he spends his days asleep on the spare bed, but will venture down to parade his tail to our guests, occasionally attack the stairs carpet, or deposit a furball somewhere that lies just out of sight at 3AM. Squelch!

Aside from that mentioned above, I started FatCats Empurrium with the goal of offering you, my dear reader, a glimpse into my thoughts and experiences. What started out a bit of social media fun, highlighting the indignant nature of the feline menace, has evolved into the blog you behold before you. I have tried to pack it full of information to help you live the best nine lives with your feline companion. I hope you can take some time to explore and are able to take away something that you can relate to your furry friend and also make you smile. So, read on and enjoy!
